The History Behind Jdiobe
STEM Foundation

The Jdiobe STEM Foundation was founded with a simple but powerful mission: to ignite curiosity and opportunity through STEM education in communities that need it most. Legally incorporated in the United States, the Foundation operates its programs on the ground in Uganda, where the founder, Dr. Muwanika Jdiobe, was born and first dreamed of making science and innovation accessible to all. Dr. Jdiobe’s journey from the classrooms of Uganda to earning a Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in the United States, inspired a vision to give back. He recognized a deep gap in access to modern STEM education, hands-on research opportunities, and mentorship for Ugandan youth. What began as personal outreach, hosting workshops, guiding students through science fair projects, and organizing school visits, quickly grew into a movement. In response to increasing demand and a growing network of students and educators, the Jdiobe STEM Foundation was officially launched as a nonprofit organization. Since then, it has expanded its impact across Uganda through programs in robotics, aerospace education, water monitoring research, and environmental engineering. We emphasize not just learning, but doing; empowering students to participate in real-world research and solve local problems using STEM tools. With its unique cross-border structure, registered in the U.S. and operating in Uganda; the Foundation bridges continents, resources, and ideas. Our work continues to grow through partnerships with schools, universities, and communities, all united by the belief that brilliance exists everywhere, but opportunity must be built.

Our Vision

To cultivate a world where every student has the opportunity to explore, innovate, and excel in STEM fields, particularly aerospace, fostering a new generation of diverse, skilled, and passionate scientists, engineers, and innovators who will drive technological advancements and solve global challenges.

Mission

To inspire, educate, and empower students in STEM disciplines through innovative research programs, engaging science fairs, supportive scholarships, and cutting-edge aerospace education. We aim to bridge the gap between academia and industry, promote diversity in STEM, and nurture critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will shape the future of science and technology.

Founder & President, Jdiobe STEM Foundation

Dr. Muwanika Jdiobe is a distinguished aerospace engineer, STEM educator, and visionary leader committed to expanding access to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education across Uganda and beyond.

Born and raised in Uganda, Dr. Jdiobe’s passion for innovation began at a young age. As a secondary school student, he built AC generators and simple model helicopters using locally available materials a testament to his early ingenuity and curiosity. These formative experiences ignited a lifelong mission: to empower underserved communities through hands-on STEM education and applied research.

He holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, a Master’s, and a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Oklahoma State University. His academic research has contributed to fields such as aircraft noise prediction, aeroacoustics, and autonomous systems including the design and development of MANUEL, an autonomous surface vehicle for environmental monitoring.

Professionally, Dr. Jdiobe works as an aerospace engineer at The Boeing Company, specializing in aircraft noise prediction and control. He actively contributes to national and international research communities as a member of the AIAA’s Aeroacoustics Technical Committee and NASA’s Acoustics Technical Working Group.
Through the Jdiobe STEM Foundation, Dr. Jdiobe combines his technical expertise, educational vision, and personal story to inspire a new generation of African engineers, scientists, and innovators. He remains deeply committed to transforming lives through STEM—one student, one school, and one breakthrough at a time.
